GASTONIA, NC – Carolina Speedway is ready for the BEAST! The newly formed Battle of the Eastern All Star Tour (BEAST) will make its Carolina Speedway debut Friday night May 11th. The series is a joint effort between the former Southern All Stars East and Clash South tours. So far in 2012 two events have been run with Dennis ‘Rambo’ Franklin and Johnny Pursley capturing the victories.
The $4,000 to win main event is expected to draw a large field of Super Late Models to the 4/10 mile oval, known throughout the racing industry as ‘The Action Track’.
“We are anxiously awaiting the BEAST’s visit to Carolina,” said Carolina Speedway’s Mark Gibbons. “They have a great mix of Super Late Model drivers from around the Southeast and I am positive we will have a great show. We only host a select few Super Late Model shows per year and this one has us real excited.”
One driver in particular who is looking forward to the event is Johnny Pursley. Pursley cut his racing teeth at Carolina and leads the BEAST point standings as they enter the event.
“We have been around Carolina all our life. We should be pretty good as we have a lot of laps around there and hopefully we can win another BEAST show and pad our points lead,” said the second generation driver.
Pursley is competing on the BEAST tour with a new team for 2012. He has joined forces with Bobby & Johnny Wilson to drive their potent B4 out of Fountain Inn, SC. Sponsorship on the car comes from Cannon Supply, Service Master Clean, Masterbilt, Clements Race Engines and FK Rod Ends.
“It’s a real good car,” said Pursley. “Everywhere we have been with it we have been fast.”
Also on the card for Friday night May 11th will be a $1,000 to win NDRA Late Model event plus the Open Wheel Modifieds, Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade and Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinders.
Pit gates open at 4:00 with grandstand gates opening at 5:00. Admission will be $20 in the grandstands and $30 in the pits. Hot laps will start at 7:20 with racing at 8:00. For more information please visit www.carolinaspeedway.net or www.racethebeast.com
