GASTONIA, NC (August 27) - Gary Puckett rolled to his first NDRA GM Performance Late Model win of 2010 Friday night at Carolina Speedway. Puckett's victory enabled him to stretch his point lead over Jordan Anderson in his attempt for his second straight track championship.
Anthony Sanders kept Puckett in check but had to settle for second with Greg Barker third, Jordan Anderson fourth and Kenny Rominger fifth.
In the Dominos Pizza Street Stock main event it was Gastonia's 'Flyin' Brian Austin taking the win. Ronald Pope was second with Chris Stowe third, Michael Brown fourth and Andy Windert fifth.
Derrick Ramey scored his first career Bea's Gift Basket Open Wheel Modified victory. Kyle Strickler, Manuel Johnson, Ryan Ayers and Jacob Harrell rounded out the top five.
John Rhyne motored to his first Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade victory of 2010. He won a wild main event over; Dustin Thompson, Brandon Davis, Desi Olson and Jesse Brannon.
For the eighth straight time Shannon Barnhill drove to the Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinder victory after starting in the rear of the main event. Bryan Mullis, Wayne Curtis, Jamie Major and Mark Whitten completed the top five.
Jason Conner visited City Chevrolet victory lane at Carolina Speedway for the first time in 12 years after driving to the Thunder Sportsman win. Kenneth Ramsey, Rooster Ghant, Adam McKay and Bryant Rayfield followed.
